Senior Accountant (St. Thomas USVI)

compensation: 70K to 80K
employment type: full-time

Senior Accountant performs full-cycle month-end close duties as well as comprehensive analytical work in various management areas including financial reporting, and must possess a solid understanding of GAAP.
This critical position will report directly to the CEO in the company’s St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands’ office and will interface directly with location General Managers, property management staff in the British Virgin Islands, accountants in the States and BVI as well as a variety of vendors, suppliers, and government offices in both countries to drive better financial performance.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, unquestionable integrity, attention to details, and be a decisive manager. Resilient positive attitude with the capacity to be appropriately assertive and maintain composure under pressure is a must. We are looking for an extremely organized, trustworthy, and passionate candidate for this role.

Primary Responsibilities

*Cash Management: effectively managing the organization and positioning it for growth
Prepare and evaluate cash-flow projections to help determine future needs
Daily review of cash balances by using online banking capabilities
Maintain a cash worksheet to monitor cash balances effectively and in a timely manner
Accounts Payable – maintain a listing of amounts due to vendors as well as amounts paid to date, via QB

*Develop and implement policies and procedures of the company by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness

*Fixed Assets: ensure they are maintained effectively: (assist tax accountant)
Establish a capitalization threshold for items over a set amount
Work with the operations teams on cost/benefit assessments before purchasing new equipment

*Review and analyze financial information, regularly communicating with the CEO, to identify and resolve financial issues, identify and improve record keeping, and help find ways to consolidate bills, reduce financial fees and streamline different business accounting functions

*Review bank statements, pay bills, allocate costs for multiple projects, process reimbursements, appropriately allocate costs on credit card statements, organize and file personal and business receipts, oversee cash management, and payroll processing

*Assist with tax and other related fillings

*Maintain compliance with business/trade licenses, Certificates of Good Standing, and related filings

*Develop and manage administrative systems, such as record management, filing systems, and other administrative, financial, and accounting processes and procedures

*Payroll processing and filing all related reports (BVI & USVI)

*Revenue reconciliation and bookings review – daily
Provide oversight on resort reservations and booking reconciliation

*Internal financial statement preparation and monthly reconciliations of all cash, credit cards, and loans accounts

*Petty cash (US & BVI offices) reconcile and maintained for appropriate cash needs

*Coordinate with third party consultants; responding timely to their request/questions

*Reporting to financial institutions and RT Park

*Ad Hoc Projects, as requested by CEO

Qualified candidates have the following:

*Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related discipline
*Ten+ years of experience in accounting or equivalent and overseeing financial and operational systems
*Have a strong understanding of finance/real estate concepts
*Current knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as well as International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
*Basic understanding of US Tax Form 1040 and Form 1065 and related schedules
*Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and QuickBooks
*Highly flexible with the ability to multitask and prioritize
*Demonstrated commitment to superior customer service; goal-driven, accountable, and reliable; strong attention to detail and follow-through
*Be a team player with strong interpersonal/communication skills, with the ability to interact in effective and confident manner
